My Repair Procedures Since every timepiece is different, one cannot assume that a standard cleaning and service method will work for every one. For this reason I fully disassemble and inspect each part before the repair work begins. This allows me to tailor the methods to the timepiece. My cleaning methods vary from hand scrubbing, mechanically agitated cleaning, or ultrasonic cleaning. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and I always try to use the one best suited to the situation. If some repair of individual parts is needed it is always done prior to final cleaning and every part is properly lubricated during assembly. This insures that the lubricants are applied only to the proper place. The first step is to contact me -- either by phone or email. We can discuss your timepiece, and I can give you an idea about what can be done and how much it will cost. I cannot give you definite information or numbers until I have physically examined the timepiece, but you will have a better idea whether you want to procede. Once I have received your timepiece I'll first let you know that it has arrived safely, and if I can I'll give you an estimate at that time. If not, I'll give you the estimate within the week. The formal estimate will cost $25. This fee covers part of my time, and return shipping, should you choose not to go forward with the work. If you do continue with the repair, the entire $25 will be applied to the final bill. I do reserve the right to ask for a 50% down payment on some projects. If you would like a written estimate I would be happy to send one either by email or by US mail. If you decide to send me an email, please provide a description of your timepiece, and also tell me what problems you are experiencing with it. Please contact me with your questions between 8:00am and 5:00pm EST, M-F (413) 549-1950 Or email me anytime: Matt@HenningWatches.com |
