How to Send Your Timepiece The best way that I have found to send a small package such as a watch or chronometer is through the US Post Office. They have a variety of services available, so you can choose how fast it will get here, and how much insurance you would like. The safest service that they provide is Registered Mail. With this service, each person that handles the parcel must sign for it, and is personally responsible for it. I strongly recommend that you insure the package for the full value of its contents. I can also accept delivery from UPS or Federal Express, if you prefer. The best way to prepare a timepiece for shipping is to double box it. Put the piece in a small box with padding, and then place that into a larger box with more padding. This effectively immobilizes the timepiece within the packing material, and keeps it from migrating to the outer surface of the box, where it might be damaged. As an alternative, you may roll the watch or chronometer up in layers of bubble wrap and nest this in a box full of crumpled newspaper or packing peanuts. I will provide you with a shipping address when you contact me. Please contact me with your questions between 8:00am and 5:00pm EST, M-F (413) 549-1950 Or email me anytime: Matt@HenningWatches.com |
